Dr. Ryan Yau grew up in Calgary and received his BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary in 2001. He then moved to Edmonton to complete his MD at the University of Alberta with Special Training in Research in 2005. After medical school, he finished his training as an ophthalmology resident at the University of Alberta and is certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. Dr Yau is also affiliated with the University of Calgary ophthalmology residency program and is active in both teaching and research.
Dr. Michael Fielden grew up in Calgary. He received his BSc in 1999 from Queen's University followed by his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 2003. In 2008, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa. He then returned to Calgary for his retina fellowship. Calgary is his home with his wife and two children; He is an associate with Calgary Retina Consultants at the Southern Alberta Eye Centre. Dr. Fielden participates in medical student, resident and fellow education. He gives lectures to a variety of health care professionals and participates in clinical research. He has a special interest in diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration and hereditary eye diseases.
